NATUROPATHY
Naturopathic medicine is a distinct primary healthcare system of medicine that blends modern scientific knowledge with traditional and natural forms of medicine. Licensed Naturopathic Physicians are board certified. Treatments utilized to address most health issues include herbal medicines, diet and lifestyle counseling, homeopathic remedies, physical medicine and exercise.
When necessary conventional pharmaceuticals may also be prescribed, naturopathic physicians act to identify and remove obstacles to recovery, and work to facilitate the innate healing ability of the body. The goal of naturopathic medicine is to restore the natural and optimal functioning of the body by using therapies that enhance its ability to heal rather than focusing only on the symptoms that are expressed.
Treatments are also tailored specifically to each client taking into account all factors (physical, mental, emotional, genetic, environmental and social) involved in overall health. Educating patients in ways to support their own health and prevent future disease is also a key principle of this medicine.
NUTRITIONAL THERAPY
Nutritional Therapy is nutritional counseling and functional assessment based on the philosophy that the myriad of today's health problems result from weaknesses in the body’s physiological foundations as a result of poor nutrition. These foundations are digestion, blood sugar balance, fatty acid balance, hydration, and mineral balance.
The functional evaluation-FE-is a physical assessment of all the systems of the body, starting with digestion. It is a non-invasive assessment and is done fully-clothed. The FE allows us to gather feedback from the body and sheds further light on where imbalances lie and what is needed to correct them. It is a valuable tool for measuring positive change as you progress toward a healthier state.

Catherine Carpenter, Nutritionist
Request Appointment
I am a certified nutritional therapy practitioner through the Nutritional Therapy Association (NTA).
My background is in dance and massage therapy, but I've been intrigued by nutrition and health, since childhood. I come from a family of food enthusiasts and I enjoy the challenge of finding ways of making foods that are extraordinarily healthy, while continuing to satiate the pallet.
I recognize, and have experienced, that changing ones eating habits can be very difficult and quite emotional. I make every effort to be supportive during the process by allowing clients to help set their own pace, while still moving toward healthy change.
When you work with me as a nutritional therapist, we will start with a complimentary initial interview to discuss your health history, what your current health goals are and how nutritional therapy can help you achieve them, bringing you toward a more optimal health. If you decide that nutritional therapy is a proper fit for you, we will decide on a plan that best fits your needs.
